Best Neighborhoods in Oklahoma City
When you’re searching for your next home in Oklahoma City and you’re not familiar with the neighborhoods it’s hard to know where to start. Because we’ve been around the Oklahoma City block a few times we’ve put together a comprehensive guide to our favorite neighborhoods in the city. No more guess work for your house hunt!
Crown Heights & Edgemere Heights
Crown Heights dates back to 1907 and makes up 160 acres of land. Shortly after that time the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club constructed an 18-hole course on the land. After the 1930s homes began to be developed in the area.
These homes were made of brick, stone and stucco and were part of developments that made up the one-story, two-story and duplex or apartment sections of the neighborhood – mostly in a Tudor Revival style. The second most popular style in Crown Heights was of the Colonial Revival design giving the home a charming historical look today.
Edgemere Heights was developed in the 1940s and 1950s, with homes more reflective of that era, and in the 70s the Crown Heights-Edgemere Heights Homeowners Association was founded. Once home to the city’s prominent and elite, this neighborhood still offers the charm, character and desirable zip code it once did.
Quail Creek
Quail Creek is one of the finest neighborhoods in Oklahoma City. Located in the Northwest section of the city, it’s home to an immaculate golf course and country club, as well as a family recreation center.
Quail Creek is a bit newer than neighborhoods like Crown Heights, with its facilities opening in 1960. In addition to the beautiful homes in the area the whole family can enjoy life in Quail Creek with its golf, tennis, swimming, fitness, fine dining, and social activities.
The Plaza District
The Plaza District of Oklahoma City started with a project to revitalize the area beginning in 1997. The district was once an area of crime and disrepair that now has become a thriving community for artists and local businesses.
The landscape of historical buildings offered the great bones for this new community. With a little remodeling and renovation these beautiful pieces of Oklahoma City history have been brought back to life.
The area now boasts 45 businesses and a rise in property values. If you’re looking for something a little different, and maybe even a little inspiration, The Plaza District might just be calling your name.
While Oklahoma City is full of great neighborhoods to call home, these are just a few of our favorites that might be yours too. These hot spots also offer great return on your investment as they continue to grow in popularity.
