Landlords and tenants are reacting fiercely to the CDC eviction moratorium. Suddenly it seems like the country has broken out into insanity. Well, maybe not so suddenly. Nevertheless, this moratorium appears to have spun the insanity wheel off its axis.
Bizarre behavior has gone to new heights. The news looks bleak and people seem to have lost belief in themselves or humanity in general. The general outcry being despair. And the blame game is the hottest prize. Everyone has their finger-pointing in every direction and all eyes are on the government to send in the calvary.
The cavalry isn’t coming out of the white house doors. Landlords and tenants are angry about it.
The behavior of the protestors is shameful in many cases. Our country has disgraced itself. Scrolling the news about the situation makes one question how civilized are we anymore?
The uprise is focused on the large numbers of rents that are delinquent and the threat of families losing the roofs they live under. The housing crisis has taken on the form of an enormous cliff fast approaching. Without some intervention, we are headed over the edge.
If tenants can’t or won’t pay their rent, how will property owners pay the mortgage? If property owners can’t pay their mortgages, the banks will take the property, so then what happens to the tenants? What does this do to the economy?
Every one of these is a very valid question. Although, any reasonable person is questioning “how will threatening, shooting, or general rude behavior solve anything”?
The reality is that this is a frightening situation.Covid seems to have taken the world, turned it upside-down, and begun shaking it violently. There are an immense amount of legitimate concerns to be addressed. However, there is a lot of it that we can’t control.
We can’t control the Virus, yet.
We can’t control what our government officials argue over or the decisions they make.
Despite that, we can refocus. We are not powerless!
We can focus on the problems and complain, or we could choose to focus on how WE as a community can solve the challenges we face. Why is everyone waiting for someone else to “fix” it ?
If we really focus on solutions, I am confident that we can find a solution that is satisfactory to all of us. Perhaps we will find a way to live more peacefully through this nightmare.
Here is what we can control:
- The way we treat each other
- The way we look at things
- What we say
- The way we work
- The way we use the resources that we do have.
- Time
- Food
- Money
- Talents
- Energy
- Relationships
- Materials
So what are you going to do?
What resources do you have that you can share?
We all have resources. We all can contribute to the better or worse.
Can you give a struggling family a box of essentials?
Can you give someone a job?
Could you refer someone to a job?
Maybe you could just entertain a kid or two for a single parent. An hour or two could help them land a job.
You can start by sharing here. What solutions can you be a part of, in your neighborhood?
Regardless of what we do, it does seem that landlords and tenants both are struggling. Evictions and foreclosures are coming.
If you need to sell, we would love to be your rescue. We can buy quickly for cash. So you can survive another day.
